Training & Awareness Sessions

Learning That Strengthens Land and Livelihoods

At Ceylon Eco Fields, training is a continuous journey rooted in the field. Our training and awareness sessions empower farmers, youth, and communities with practical knowledge to adopt sustainable, organic, and climate-resilient agricultural practices. Through hands-on learning and open dialogue, we strengthen confidence, resilience, and long-term commitment to responsible farming.

Our Training Approach

From Awareness to Action

Our programs blend traditional agricultural knowledge with modern sustainability standards. Sessions are conducted directly within farming communities, ensuring learning is practical, relevant, and immediately applicable in real field conditions. Training focuses not only on compliance, but on building pride, ownership, and long-term stewardship of land and resources.

Community-Based Awareness Programs

Organic Farming Awareness — Bibila

An Organic Farming and Certification Awareness Program held in Bibila on October 5th, 2024, brought together nearly 200 farmers from the region. Participants gained practical insights into organic farming techniques, certification requirements, and the long-term environmental and economic benefits of organic agriculture. These sessions strengthened understanding of compliance standards while highlighting organic certification as a pathway to healthier ecosystems and improved market access.

Annual Organic Farming & Tree Planting — Haldummulla

The Annual Awareness Programme in Haldummulla (November 4–5, 2023) combined organic farming education with native tree planting initiatives. Farmers and community members participated in hands-on activities that emphasized biodiversity protection, soil health, and sustainable living practices. This program reinforced the importance of collective action in building resilient farming landscapes and thriving communities.

From Recovery to Growth

Post-Hurricane Training for Resilient Agriculture

Following the Ditwa hurricane, special recovery training sessions were conducted in collaboration with the Department of Export Agriculture. These sessions supported affected farmers with guidance on restoring fields, protecting soil and water resources, and adopting climate-resilient practices. Beyond recovery, the training focused on rebuilding confidence, strengthening resilience, and preparing communities for future climate challenges.

Building Knowledge for the Global Market

Training also supports farmers on their journey toward international certifications, including Rainforest Alliance, Organic EU, USDA-NOP, Fairtrade, Demeter, and Naturland. Through field guidance, record-keeping support, and traceability awareness, farmers are equipped to meet global standards and access premium markets responsibly.
